Pay and salary

Hourly to Salary Calculator

Enter your pay and your usual working pattern. The defaults (40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year) match a standard full-time schedule; change them if you work part-time or take unpaid time off.

How it works

Annual pay = hourly wage × hours per week × weeks per year. The hourly rate from a salary is the reverse: annual salary ÷ (hours per week × weeks per year). Weekly pay is one working week's pay (hourly wage × hours per week), bi-weekly pay is two working weeks, and the monthly figure is the annual total divided by 12, an average across the year rather than one month's payslip.

Worked example

At $25 an hour, 40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year: 25 × 40 × 52 = $52,000 a year, $4,333.33 a month, $2,000 bi-weekly.

Frequently asked questions

How many work hours are in a year?

A standard full-time schedule of 40 hours a week for 52 weeks is 2,080 hours. If you take two unpaid weeks off, it is 2,000 hours, which is why the weeks field matters.

Does this include taxes?

No. This is gross pay before tax and deductions. Take-home pay will be lower.

Is monthly pay just 4 weeks of pay?

No. A month averages 4.33 weeks, so monthly pay is the annual total divided by 12, not four weekly pays.
